Curriculum and Methods:
Beginners ages 4 through 8 will start with Music Moves for Piano by Marilyn Lowe, along with the Tales of a Musical Journey series by Irina Gorin. With these methods, your child will learn audiation of music through listening, singing tonal patterns, chanting rhythm patterns, moving to music, improvising at the piano, and playing piano pieces. They will also learn to play pieces on the piano from standard notation.
The methods used in lessons are carefully sequenced, but there is a lot of flexibility allowing lessons to be tailored to the individual student, whether in groups or private lessons. When appropriate, I include supplementary pieces and activities to boost their interest and help them further master concepts and techniques.
