McKinney Music Studio Policy
Expectations
Each student must have a piano at home, with maintenance and tuning at least once per year, a metronome, specific time set aside daily for practicing between lessons, a 3-ring binder with pockets inside the front and back covers (ideally with no zippers or snaps). Attendance at studio piano workshops and recitals is expected. Parental support is essential for the success of young students. Parents are requested to accompany their young children to lessons whenever possible, and to assist them at home with their piano practice.
Student Agreement
The student agrees to: 1) Practice daily (5-7 days a week), 2) Keep a record of practice times, 3) Prepare the complete lesson assignment each week, 4) Keep nails trimmed short, 5) Attend and perform in studio recitals and workshops.
Attendance
There are no make-up lessons or refunds for cancellations made by students. The instructor has a full schedule and is unable to extend the teaching hours. Students are encouraged to participate in the Lesson Exchange Program (below). Lessons canceled by the instructor will be made up at a mutually convenient time.
Lesson Exchange Program
Should a scheduling conflict arise in which it is not possible to attend the regular lesson, your student may exchange lessons with another student. The exchange list is shared only with participants and will contain the following information: Student's first name, parent's first and last names, e-mail address(es), phone number(s), and lesson day and time.
Tuition Payment
Payments can be made using Visa, MasterCard or direct debit from a checking or savings account. Quarterly and monthly payments in cash or by personal check cannot be accepted. Studio Rules
|
1. Please arrive on time for your lesson. If the student arrives late, the remaining time will be used, but the lesson will not be extended past the regular endpoint. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early. If you are the first student for the day, the instructor may not be there to let you into the studio if you arrive very early.
2. Please park in the driveway. You may alternatively park directly across the street after 4pm. There is no parking allowed on the side of the street where the studio is located, and the opposite side is controlled parking between 9am and 4pm. 3. Parents are welcome to wait in the room next to the studio during lessons. If you wish to have a visitor to the studio during a lesson, please arrange the visit in advance by asking the instructor. 4. Please enter the building quietly and without knocking or ringing the bell. |
5. It is a good idea to wash your hands or use the bathroom before your lesson time. Please do not wait until it is time for your lesson to begin, as this takes away from your personal instruction time.
6. Please trim nails before your lesson. In case you forget, the instructor will have a pair of nail clippers available in the bathroom for you to use. 7. Do not chew gum during your lesson. 8. Do not eat or drink during your lesson. Water may be kept in the adjoining living room for before and after your lesson. 9. Enrollment and participation in this studio indicates agreement to and compliance with all studio goals, curricula and policies. Please keep a copy of this policy sheet. 10. Policy and rates are subject to change with notice. |
